Perpetual Optimism is a Force Multiplier

”Perpetual optimism is a force multiplier.”
-Gen. Colin Powell

I believe the opposite of this statement is also true,...perpetual pessimism is a force multiplier toward negative results. I believe the strongest ally of pessimism is “complaining,” and I can’t believe how quickly this creeps into our minds...regardless of how good we have it.

Today, I am making a pact with my coaches to go today without complaining, and move that commitment to a week without complaining...to a month, to a full season. My coaching staff has agreed to hold me accountable, and I believe if we have enough of our staff exemplifying this, it will naturally infiltrate our whole clubhouse and multiply the strong force we have.
